Top Ten Worship Songs I’m Listening to This Summer

When I think of summer, I usually think of rest, reflection, and a little bit of space to explore the world around me. I also think of yard work, prep for the coming ministry year, and hopefully a vacation where my little kids choose to actually sleep. There are a lot of big and small moments in the summertime, so when I was asked to create a Top 10 Worship Song List, I was going to write a little piece about each song and what it means to me. But I don’t think that’s as helpful as saying I think these songs are the ones that come to mind when I think of being in relationship with God through all the ups and downs of life right now. Some of these songs have been companions through many years, and some are fairly new to me. You may find a different gem than I do in each song, and that is absolutely fine! Singing the goodness of God to your heart, especially when the words are grounded in the Bible, helps anchor us in the story God has for each of us. So, instead of commentary, I’ve pulled my favorite lines from each song and also made a Spotify playlist here where you can find all of these. This is a collaborative playlist and we’d love to have you add your current favorite worship song to the playlist!

Starts and Ends (Hillsong)

When real life and peace won’t make amends
When all these starts
Start feeling like these ends
Like the world is unravelling
And I’m bound to come undone
There is a Shepherd a Priest
There is a Comforter who comforts me

Come Thou Fount
(Kings Kaleidscope)

Oh to grace how great a debtor
Daily I’m constrained to be
Let Thy grace now like a fetter
Bind my wandering heart to Thee

Seasons (Hillsong)

Lord I think of Your love
Like the low winter sun
And as I gaze I am blinded
In the light of Your brightness
And like a fire to the snow
I’m renewed in Your warmth
Melt the ice of this wild soul
Till the barren is beautiful

Is He Worthy?
(Shane & Shane)

Does the Father truly love us?
(He does)
Does the Spirit move among us?
(He does)
And does Jesus our Messiah hold forever those He loves?
(He does)
Does our God intend to dwell again with us?
(He does)

God Is For Us (CityAlight)

Sing with joy now our God is for us
The Father’s love is a strong and mighty fortress
Raise your voice now no love is greater
Who can stand against us if our God is for us

Be Thou My Vision
(Citizens & Saints)

Great God of Heaven, my victory won
May I reach Heaven’s joy, O bright Heaven’s Sun
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall
Still be my vision, O Ruler of all

Not Today (Hillsong)

I’ll sing the night into the morning
I’ll sing the fear into your praise
I’ll sing my soul into your presence
Whenever I say your name, Jesus
Let the devil know not today

Do It Again (Elevation)

Your promise still stands
Great is Your faithfulness, faithfulness
I’m still in Your hands
This is my confidence
You’ve never failed me yet

Elohim (Hillsong)

I draw my breath under His
Created windswept sky
I know my hope shall last
Long after my flesh retires
From dusk until the dawn
He calls His children home
His righteous love outlasts generations

Build My Life (Pat Barrett)

Jesus, the name above every other name
Jesus, the only one who could save
Worthy of every breath we could ever breathe
We live for you
