As we sit down for Thanksgiving this season, we gather with loved ones to celebrate those things that are most important to us: family, friends, faith.
As a church, we are also giving thanks for the Journey Project. Sunday, we gathered for one service to kick off the official Journey with a pledge and first fruits gift. The goal for the two-year project, which will pay down debt while also funding needed capital projects, was $2 million.
Coming out of the service, complete with a lip-synch battle by leadership and Chick-fil-a on Sunday, Faith committed to giving $2,304,253 above regular giving throughout the next two-years. And to get the ball rolling the first fruits offers came to $724,750.
Blowing past our goal signifies the generosity of Faith, but perhaps more importantly, how much people trust God to give so freely.
While there are many ways to give thanks this season, what Faith did Sunday is a tangible example of placing our faith in God’s provision and thanking him for what he has done.
So, this Thanksgiving as you gather around the table with family and friends to enjoy some good food and conversation, take a moment to give thanks for The Journey Project and the work he is doing in the church community and the congregation as it launches.
While we are off to a fast start, as anyone who has ever been on a journey knows it’s the finish line that really matters. The start is just the beginning of great things to come.
