Know Your Missionaries

One of the things I love about our church is the way we intentionally reach out. We reach out to those who call Faith Church home, we reach out to people in our community, and we reach out to people around the globe. Isn’t it wonderful to consider the far-reaching impact we can have as a church? You may be familiar with the closer-to-home care and outreach we have, but how well do you know those who are working farther away? See if you know which of our missionaries fit the descriptions below, then read more about them at  faithchurchfortcollins.org/missionaries.

Who are we?

1.  We are part of a church planting team in a town that is over 99% Muslim, a town with very few believers and no indigenous church.
2.  I teach math, science, and cooking to middle school-aged missionary kids.
3.  We are Faith Church missionaries, and both sets of our parents are Faith Church missionaries.
4.  We reach people worldwide by reaching international university students here in the U.S.  (2 couples)
5.  I am a pastor to pastors and a leadership trainer and coach in the Rocky Mountain District.
6.  God is using our love of reaching children for Christ in a ministry that takes the gospel to the most spiritually dark places of the world.
7.  We use our experience of serving the American church and serving overseas to recruit, train, and support new missionaries in our organization.
8.  Our passion is to connect high school students to Jesus and the local church by creating environments where youth can build authentic relationships through their passions.
9.  After more than 30 years overseas, we now serve retired missionaries.
10.  We serve in a ministry that strives to reach young people and disciple leaders for the next generation. In a typical year, our team shares the gospel with 25,000 young people, with about 2,000 coming to faith in Christ.
11.  We have four school-aged children and oversee various church-planting teams in a Muslim area.  We have parents who are also Faith Church missionaries in our country.
12.  We travel a lot by small plane as we serve others in our organization who are ministering in remote northern villages.
13.  We live in the inner-city to reach the urban/ethnic poor.
14.  We are committed to seeing a strong network of Albanian churches and ministries in Albania and other Albanian communities.
15.  We run a guest house and buy supplies for other missionaries in remote areas, and we homeschool our three children.
16.  After 20 years of serving at Faith Church, we are now involved in training and mentorship in a ministry which reaches people for Christ largely through music.

Janet Smith and her husband Dan have been members at Faith for 16 years. After years of homeschooling their four children and leading a homeschool group, she now works in the Faith office as Assistant to Care Ministry. She serves in Stephen Ministry and in Women of the Word.

Outside of work and ministry, Janet enjoys baking, reading, hiking, crocheting, and spending time with her kids and grandkids.
