Hey, it’s Valerie from Faith! I have a question for you. Got a minute?”
I hear a pleasant, “Yes, of course!” on the other end of the line. They never know what’s coming.
“We’re going to be sharing stories of people at Faith with our upcoming sermon series, and as we were brainstorming, you guys came to mind. Would you be willing to share your story with our congregation on camera for a Sunday morning?”
Nick and Kayla are not the first people to have received this phone call from me. Quick tip: if a 937 area code ever pops up on your phone (my last tie to my Ohio roots other than THE Ohio State Buckeyes), it may be beneficial to ignore it. That is, if you hate being in front of people as much as our Tech Director, Nick, does. He’d tell you there’s a reason he works in the A/V booth. Up front in any form or fashion is the last place he wants to be on a Sunday morning!
Nevertheless, Nick and Kayla, in faith – and possibly out of slight obligation because we lead a small group together – said yes to sharing their story. We’re so glad they did! They are special to us because we’ve gotten to witness some of their transformation firsthand. From dipping their toes in the water that first Easter Sunday to now volunteering and leading teams at Faith, they are a blessing to many and their love for Jesus overflows into everything they do.
Over the next six weeks we’ll enjoy stories from people at Faith who have journeyed with Jesus in a special way. We can’t wait to share them with you! You know they’re going to be good when they include themes like courage, faith, confidence, sacrificial generosity and grace.
That’s a lot of words to say, “Enjoy Nick & Kayla’s story”!
P.S. I’m a sucker for a good story of Jesus’ work in your lives so if you have one brewing in your own heart or you’ve witnessed one in someone else’s life at Faith, please drop me a line at vbouchard@faithchurchfc.org or stop me in the foyer on Sunday morning!
Valerie Bouchard has been attending Faith since 2010 and came on staff in 2015 as the Communication and Connection Director. She is passionate about helping people love Jesus more in their everyday lives and especially loves serving alongside so many gifted leaders, creatives, storytellers, small group leaders and welcome volunteers.
Outside of Faith, you’ll find her hiking 14ers with her golden retriever, Kai, coaching CrossFit classes, planning her next travel adventure or baking mediocre treats with coffee in hand and Hillsong (usually) as the soundtrack.
