Stephen Ministry

What is Stephen Ministry at Faith?

Stephen Ministry is a group of people within our church family dedicated to love and care for those who are hurting in and around our church family. Through one-to-one caring relationships, those who are faced with a new life challenge or difficulty receive the love and care they need to support them.

What is a Stephen Minister?

A Stephen Minister is...

  • A follower of Christ who walks beside a person who is hurting.
  • A person who's committed to giving the gift of time and to really listening.
  • A lay person who has received 50+ hours of training in how to provide distinctively Christian care.

A Stephen Minister is NOT...

  • A counselor or therapist
  • A "problem-fixer"
  • A casual visitor

What kind of needs can be helped through Stephen Ministry?

We help those who are...

  • Experiencing loss of a loved one
  • Terminally ill
  • Separated or divorced
  • Hospitalized or in a care facility
  • Single parents
  • Experiencing vocational stress
  • Students living away from home
  • Caretakers of ill or disabled persons
  • Adjusting to big life changes
  • Parents whose children are high-need/high-risk
  • Homebound, retiring
  • Dealing with adoption issues
  • Relational issues
  • Various life challenges or difficulties

How does the referral process work?

  1. A person - you or another person you know - is hurting and in need of Christian Care.
  2. A Stephen Minister is requested - either by the person in need or someone on his/her behalf. The request is made online by clicking HERE or by calling 970-226-2095.
  3. A Referrals Coordinator meets with the person to talk about the Stephen Ministry.
  4. With the person's permission, the Referrals Coordinator assigns a Stephen Minister to meet regularly with that person.
  5. The Stephen Minister provides distinctively Christian and confidential care.
