Baptism Basics: What we believe about baptism and why.
Baptism does not save us.
Ephesians 2:8-9 – “For by grace you have been saved, through faith ... it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”
Titus 3:5 – “He saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy ....”
Baptism testifies that you are united with Jesus in his death and resurrection.
1 Cor. 15:3-4 – “Christ died for our sins ... he was buried ... and he was raised on the third day.”
Col. 2:12 – “having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the powerful working of God, who raised him from the dead.”
Baptism illustrates your new life as a Christian.
2 Cor. 5:17 – “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away; the new has come.”
Romans 6:4 – “We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.”
Faith will have an outdoor baptism to be held at our All-Church Picnic on August 26th.
